(INDIANAPOLIS) – February 22, 2023 – Teach Indy will host an Educators Conference at Butler University on February 25, 2023 at Butler University. More than 150 current and aspiring teachers have registered to attend a full day of in-person professional development, created by teachers, for teachers. This year, breakout sessions will focus on serving Special Populations: Special Education, Serving Special Populations: English Learning, Panel Discussions- Innovative Models and Practices in Schools.

“We finally have the opportunity to bring educators together from across the state of Indiana to collaborate, celebrate and build community IN PERSON,” said Sara Marshall, Executive Director of Teach Indy. “The ability to discuss an idea or share real-time feedback among educators without the restrictions of a screen is something that we’ve really been missing.”

The 2023 Educators Conference will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakout sessions include: Maximizing Content for Multilinguals, The Science of Reading for All Students, and Neurodiverse Students in STEM Classrooms. The keynote speaker, Dr. Erica Buchanan-Rivera will deliver an address on advancing equity through the creation of identity affirming spaces. This session will call for educators to think about how they show up into justice-centered work. This high-energy day will include educator recognition, giveaways, prizes and more.

“It was important to us to examine statewide data and present sessions that we believe support educators in better serving all students, especially those who receive special education services and English Learners,” said Mark Carter, Manager of Programs and Events for Teach Indy.

Additionally, teachers could register for a CPR course that will occur after the conference, at a significantly reduced rate. Throughout the day, time will be reserved for educators to discuss their learning and the application of best practices they’ve heard during sessions and at the panel discussions to improve classroom practice.  To learn more about the conference, visit teachindynow.org/teach-indy-educator-conference-2023/
