Overview

At Raymond Brandes Elementary School students receive high quality learning experiences that give them opportunities to: interact and work with others in the school and community, use technology for learning and communication, explore different career fields, and develop a sense of global responsibility and community citizenship by participating in community service projects and events. Each classroom is equipped with a Promethean Board, computers, laptops, and IPads which students use for building mastery of reading and skills, research, and presenting information. Students are exposed to a variety of fiction and non-fiction from our extensive literature collection. College and career readiness activities are imbedded in all content areas. We offer many before and after school clubs including technology, yearbook, science, reading math, College Mentors, choir, physical fitness and running, basketball, and community service. We have strong partnerships with a many community organizations including multiple departments at the University of Indianapolis, University Heights Neighborhood Association, Carson Heights Neighborhood Association, Southeast Community Center, Southside Quality of Life, Quaker Oats, Keenan-Stahl Boys and Girls Club, Walmart, and local churches. We are truly a community school and parents love the fact that all of teachers know their children and support them. Our families love being treated as VIPs (Very Important People). Our staff is committed to ensuring that all children are winners in learning and life.
