The Center for Inquiry schools follow the International Baccalaureate Organization model. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) promotes intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life in the 21st century. IB programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. of this is captured in the IB mission statement: The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. CFI 27 offers the Primary Years Programme at grades K-5, and is an IB Candidate School to offer the Middle Years Programme at grades 6-8. Complementary to the IB programmes, CFI schools believe that a high-quality education for every child is built on the foundation of a safe and joyful learning community. Thus, CFI schools are committed to the implementation of Responsive Classroom, which is a research-based approach to K-8 teaching that focus on the strong link between academic success and social-emotional learning. The CFI schools use a workshop approach rooted in inquiry based learning, authentic assessment with narrative reports, and student-led conferences. With a concern for developing well-rounded citizens, the CFI schools are rich in social action opportunities and extracurricular programming.
