Virtual Math Teacher

Christel House Schools is accepting applications for a Virtual Math Teacher at the Christel House DORS South Location for the 2021-22 academic year. Christel House Schools is a growing network of high performing charter schools dedicated to serving low-income, urban students in Indianapolis.

JOB SUMMARY: The Virtual DORS Math Teacher will implement curriculum aligned to Indiana Academic Standards focusing on Algebra and remedial math skills The candidate should have strong knowledge of content area and have expertise in helping students of varying reading levels successfully read, comprehend, analyze, and critique complex text and present analysis in writing.

The candidate should have experience teaching Algebra I. The Virual DORS Math teacher must be flexible as class structures will vary depending on student needs including Algebra I and remedial math, possess the skills to deliver dynamic and creative lessons in a virtual format .

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate the virtual learning for students in Algebra I and remedial math.
• Plan and implement engaging virtual lessons aligned to standards.
• Use a variety of teaching methods including technology based, project-based, inquiry, and collaboration.
• Individualize instruction for each student, following students’ individual academic and remediation needs.
• Collaboratively work within an interdisciplinary team to enhance the educational experiences of a diverse group of students.
• Implement student IEPs and attend IEP case conference when needed.
• Attend professional development sessions.
• Monitor student performance and provide supports necessary to ensure that each student has the tools needed to be successful.
• Maintain up to date and accurate student records.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communications with students and other DORS staff.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies by attending and participating in staff development.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in subject area required.
• At least two years teaching experience at the secondary level.
• Demonstrated experience in working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.

LICENSING:

• Current Indiana Teaching Certification in subject area required.
• Dual licensure preferred.
