Job Description

Our Performing Arts Teacher is dedicated to building a transformational, one of a kind, performing arts program for K-7th Scholars. We are looking for someone who is both passionate and committed and brings significant content expertise to the role to support Scholars in growing as well-rounded people. This role will lead daily enrichment classes across the school, design and plan quarterly performances alongside the Enrichment team, and build a culture of celebration and joy across the school.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Performing Arts Teacher, you will:

  • Research, design, and/or document standards and curricula for performing arts for students in grades K-7
  • Teach multiple sections of Performing Arts each day
  • Work with other enrichment colleagues to design, supervise, and implement all aspects of the school’s general Performing Arts program, including coordinating with outside providers and vendors, maintaining records, participating in required trainings and certification processes, etc.
  • Work with classroom teachers to ensure the integration of academic instruction and Performing Arts instruction, particularly for the school’s Wit & Wisdom reading curriculum
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior to ensure that students observe the school’s core values, high expectations, and code of conduct
  • Share responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities
  • Engage families in their students’ education, including involving families in periodic student art exhibits
  • Provide appropriate supervision of students during class, breaks, meals, enrichment, arrival/dismissal, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students’ safety and well-being
  • Assist in coordinating the school’s celebrations and events.
  • Participate in regular practice-based professional development and real-time coaching.
  • Implement interventions for students in order to increase learning time and lead to mastery of grade-level content.
  • Run weekly technology and/or SEL blocks with provided curriculum.
  • Participate in annual two-week Summer Experience (all staff) and two-days of New Hire Onboarding (new staff only).
  • Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (ex. family nights, student performances, field trips, family conferences, Back-to-School Nights, etc.).
  • Commit to teach an extended daily schedule: 7:10am – 4:15pm.
  • Other duties as assigned.


To be considered as a Performing Arts Teacher, you must:

  • Have a track record of producing dramatic, demonstrable student achievement gains or comparable results in current field
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership, Master’s degree preferred
  • Be a person who meets challenges with optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternative certification programs must provide proof of enrollment, preferred.
  • Pass a criminal background check, as required by law.
