Irvington Community Schools Title I Instructional Assistants work with students in small groups in or out of the classroom to support reading instruction. Instructional assistants collaborate with teachers to determine most significant needs of students and plan for targeting individual student needs. Instructional Assistants work with the Title I team to administer and analyze assessments for instruction.
This position will require the candidate to receive training in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading remediation, which will be provided by the school and utilized to support students who are reading below grade-level.
Candidate will work in a high school setting working with students in grades 9-12 supporting reading instruction in both pull-out and push-in settings, as well has e-learning as required.
Candidate must possess 60 college credit hours, OR have an Associate Degree, OR pass the Praxis Paraprofessional Exam
Experience working with at-risk student populations preferred
Must be flexible and hardworking, dedicated to the success of students in an urban school setting
