Job Description


This math teacher will join the growing math department, strengthening our effort to increase #MathPositivity throughout our school. This teacher will teach Integrated Maths I and II using the Mathematics Vision Project curriculum and resources. As the school grows, we will add subsequent math courses- Integrated Math III, Finite, Probability & Statistics, and Precalculus. With seniority status, this teacher will have the opportunity to decide which course s/he wishes to teach yearly.


  • Create unit plans and lesson plans for and teach Integrated Maths I, II, III, and/or Probability & Statistics
  • Serve as the advisor of a cohort of up to 18 students,
  • Developing & managing student Personalized Learning Plans; includes academic goals, non-academic goals, and post-secondary planning
  • Conducting weekly 1:1 advisor meetings
  • Serving as the primary liaison to students’ families
  • Developing a trusting relationship with all advisees in order to serve as the primary academic and social-emotional support
  • Lead a year-long extra-curricular club which will meet weekly during school hours
  • Act as chaperone with students on experiential learning excursions
  • Work collaboratively with school leader at staff to establish and maintain a school culture which aligns to Thrival Indy Academy  vision and mission
  • Submit requests for necessary course materials to be ordered in a timely manner
  • Effectively implement purposeful, student-centered, and globally-focused curriculum
  • Attend and actively participate in teacher co-planning workshops, professional development activities, and team and staff meetings to improve teaching craft
  • Participate in grade-level overnight experience
  • Incorporate cultural competence throughout the curricula and learning experiences for students
  • Regularly collect, track, measure, and communicate student performance and growth to school leaders, parents and other stakeholders
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor


Professional Experience 

  • Highly qualified teacher with an Indiana secondary teaching credential in high school mathematics
  • Proven track-record of student achievement with clear, quantifiable student gains, at least 2 years teaching experience within an urban education environment, preferably Indianapolis
  • Experience fostering the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision making
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students and families
  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours (e.g. for Parent Meetings)
  • Experience with cultural competence training and/or restorative justice practices strongly preferred

  • Salary ranging from $42,587 to $58,842, based on years of experience and education level
  • Room, board, meals, and travel will be provided for overnight excursion
