Organization Overview: 

The Neighborhood Charter Network (NCN) is a grassroots organization that launched in 2016 in order to manage a growing family of schools in Indianapolis, IN. The mission of The Neighborhood Charter Network is to expand educational equity to the communities we serve.

Job Summary:

NCN schools use a sheltered English immersion program to support students identified as English-language learners (ELs). Our EL teachers are critical to the model, both in terms of direct student services and teacher support. You can find our EL teachers providing instructional support to small-groups of students both inside and outside of the classroom as well as co-teaching with a content teacher, whichever is deemed most appropriate to support that particular group of students. They can also be found collaboratively planning alongside content teachers, providing scaffolding recommendations for EL students or providing professional development related to EL best practices. Our work is grounded in data, so our EL teachers also review student data regularly to figure out what’s working and what’s not yet in order to provide the most effective support possible. Each student is unique, and our EL teachers continuously find ways to ensure they help all our students learn.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Instructs individual ELL students or small groups for the purpose of reinforcing and/or achieving their academic goals and grade-level expectations in one or more content areas
  2. Plans for and provides direct instruction of identified English-language learner (ELL) students on a daily to weekly basis that align to specific group goals and individual learning outcomes
  3. Monitors ELL students goals and tracks students progress through the use of data systems and progress monitoring tools
  4. Uses ongoing instructional and standardized assessment data to drive planning and instruction
  5. Attends MTSS meetings as requested and provides updates with students progress toward goals, manages students goals, and provides adequate recommendations for suggested research-based interventions
  6. Implements instructional programs for the purpose of assisting classroom teachers in improving student’s academic success through a defined course of study
  7. Implements behavior and procedural expectations for small groups that aligns to school-wide expectations
  8. Supports teacher development focused on EL best practices
  9. Assists with administering statewide and school diagnostic testing
  10. Supports Director of Academic Language with clerical tasks to ensure program compliance
  11. Values and utilizes feedback from coach to inform instruction
  12. Collaborates with grade-level teams, special education team, and Director of Academic Language to modify students work and address students’ individual learning needs

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Has a passion for working in Indianapolis and working at Enlace Academy
  • Has demonstrated proficiency with using data to drive instructional results
  • Has a dedication to helping children grow and learn
  • Preferably holds a valid Indiana Teacher Certification
  • Experience with working with English Language Learners
  • Must be a bilingual Spanish-speaker
