Hiring Event Information and Best Practices

Before the Event

Anyone attending the event should plan to attend one of two hiring event practice sessions on:

  • DATE 1 (link) or
  • DATE 2 (link)
  • A recording of the session will be sent out after the sessions.

Educators will receive a list of schools who have registered for the event and they will be encouraged to apply for jobs in advance of the event

School staff members will receive the number of logins outlined in their registration to access the Teach Indy Resume Hub. We encourage you to reach out to any educator you might be interested in connecting with to encourage them to stop by your virtual table

During the Event

Much like an in-person hiring event, educators will be able to visit any table of their choosing in the main areas of the floor. The floor is divided by grades of the schools.

In addition to a ‘main’ table, grade bands will have a 2-top interview table for a more private conversation 1:1 with a prospective candidate. Candidates will be encouraged to have a virtual link to their resume available to drop in your schools chat to avoid your staff having to navigate to multiple systems while the event is taking place. You will be able to message educators you see in the event in the Group Chat.

After brief remarks to overview the platform at 10a, the event will begin with open interviewing. There will be a 15 min. break from 11:30a-11:45a.

If you need any assistance, please stop by the Teach Indy table which is the first table in the upper left on each floor. Sara (3173319263) or Mark ( will be stationed here for the duration of the event for both schools and participants.

After the Event

Post-Event, you will receive access to the Teach Indy Resume Hub link emailed once again. Please continue to follow up with candidates as you’d like after the event. For data purposes to allow us to host future hiring events, please track those candidates that you a) extend offers to and b) hire as a result of this event.

You will receive a post-event survey; please take 10-15 minutes to complete this survey.

We will follow up later in hiring season with an additional survey to confirm placements.

Candidates will also receive access to the preferred hiring manager at each school to connect with directly.

Best Practices for Virtual Interviews
  • Be sure you have a reliable internet connection and access to your web cam
  • If possible, select a location that is quiet or consider wearing headphones
  • Select a background that is free of distractions or consider using a downloadable backdrop
  • Plan to have at least 2 staff members from your school join you
    • Person 1: Manages your school/network table, gathers data from candidates and sends candidates you want a 1:1 interview with to a separate table
    • Person 2 (or more): Interviews candidates in a private room
  • Plan to spend no more than 8-12 min with each candidate. We see this opportunity as a first step/’phone screen’ stage of hiring
  • Request that candidates drop a link to their resume directly into the chat for you to keep

What should we plan to add to our Virtual Table White Board?
  • Any video assets you might want on your whiteboard (optional)
  • Links to any documents or your current job likes
  • Contact Information for candidates to follow up with
REMO: Virtual Hiring Event Floor Plan

Here you will see the layout of the virtual event. On the day of the event, each school will have a designated table, similar to Phalen Academies and Victory College Prep placed here as samples. Each school will have its corresponding grade levels with their table to help job seekers navigate based on their content/grade concentration area.
